During out stay at the hospital, William had problems breastfeeding. Two days after he was born, he was diagnosed with Jaundice.

Breastfeeding Jaundice: Jaundice can occur when a breastfeeding baby is not getting enough breast milk because of difficulty breastfeeding or because the mother’s milk isn’t in yet. This is not caused by the breast milk itself, but by the baby not getting enough to eat.

Then, like magic, he latched on and fed like a champ for about a week! Now, we’re having problems again. It takes over an hour to get him to finally give in and feed. It has been so stressful and I’ve had more than a few emotional breakdowns. There are times when I want nothing more than to give in and feed him from a bottle, especially during the 2am feedings.

We contacted a lactation consultant to come out to our house for one-on-one help. It seemed like a lost cause because there was nothing that she showed/told us that we weren’t already trying. However, she did recommend a pediatric chiropractor to help with William’s tight jaw. She said she has some clients that are trying this technique and they seemed to be pleased with it.

So far we’ve been to two chiropractor appointments. For the most part we’ve been pleased with the results. We’re now down to only struggling for 15 minutes per feeding- which is way better than an hour!

Big Sister

Since the day William was born, Krysta has been walking 3 inches taller and has filled out her Big Sister shoes. She gives him more hugs and kisses than he knows what to do with. I’m completely over-joyed that she is so eager to help out when she can- such as, handing mommy diapers and snuggling with her baby brother.

William is one lucky little boy to have a sister that loves him to pieces.

39 Weeks

I had my 39 week prenatal appointment today.

They had some concerns, so we ran another urine and blood test. It turns out that my kidney’s are still leaking protein. Starting tomorrow, I have to do a 24 hour urine collection (same as I did a couple of months ago) to see how serious this has gotten. Most likely, I have developed preeclampsia- which will result in having a medical induction.

With that said- I’m scheduled for a medical induction this Thursday. I am saddened by this news because I wanted to much for my body to deliver this baby on it’s own. I’m NOT looking forward to having pitocin pumped into me from an IV bag- been there, done that- definitely not a walk-in-the-park! However, I’m looking forward to meeting my bean in less than 48 hours!

Off the Rails

Today I have been completely out of whack.

I woke up early to cook the hubster and I wheat pancakes with bananas and fresh OJ before he left for work. Within the hour my heart started racing and every time I stood up I would get dizzy and nauseous. I figured this was due to the large amount of natural sugar in my breakfast, so I quickly chugged four glasses of water. This continued all morning- as I was trying to hurry out the door to get Krysta to school on time. I was nervous- nervous enough to show Krysta how to use my cell phone to call 911 and instruct her on what to say to the dispatcher (which she knows, but a mind refresher was needed).

About mid-day my body started to crash. I could barely keep my eyes open and I had “the shakes”. I ate two (yes two!) peanut-butter sandwiches for a quick dose of protein and bread to help soak up whatever was making me feel sick. I then slept the rest of the afternoon.

I feel much better now and my bean is extremely active- which puts my mind at ease. Tomorrow is my 39 week prenatal check-up, so I’ll see what the doc has to say.
