{Artist Statement}
Portrait painting is a glorious challenge that I dearly love. In 2007, I fell head-over-heals for the human anatomy. This territory of portraiture has become extremely addicting and a passion that I desire on a day to day basis. Analyzing skin tones, body proportions, textures, and details has become something that I thoroughly enjoy. It is fulfilling to see the painted figure come alive on my canvas by just adding the curve of the cheekbone or the sparkle of an eye.
In my paintings, not only do I strive to capture the simplicity of human essence, but also the inner beauty and the unique characteristics of my musings. Through my paintbrush, I focus on setting a fine narrative by paying close attention to light, shadow, and detail. It is my hope that my paintings provoke the viewer to feel the allure and artistry that the painted figure portrays.

{The Process}
The portrait process begins with a meeting or phone call to discuss mood, size, background and where the portrait will ultimately be displayed. The client is encouraged to express their particular vision and any concerns, as their input is very important to the process.

The initial contact can easily be done via e-mail and phone for out-of-state clients. Arrangements can then be made for a photo session if needed.

Portraits are based on the artist’s photos, but can also be done from the client’s high quality photographs.

A final composition is decided upon from a photo reference. A non-refundable deposit of 40% is required at this time, with the balance at acceptance.

Upon completion of the portrait, photo images may be sent to out-of-state clients via e-mail or regular post before the final delivery of the painting.

All portraits are oil on linen, having a museum shelf-life.
